ProPad
6
The
ProPad 6 is a great serial port gamepad. It features 6 buttons. Actually
8 buttons. You have 6 on the face of the pad, and 2 extra on top
(like a SNES pad). The last 2 buttons out of the 6, buttons E and
F, are the same as the 2 buttons on top of the controller. Also,
a digital pad is there, 8 way movement for precise game playing.
Plus, an auto-fire feature! Extra long cord makes this gamepad great
for sitting way back away from that bright, harsh computer monitor as well.
Comes with 1 3.5 floppy disk with all of the install-drivers included.
Set up is a breeze, but dont forget that if you use Win98 or Win98 SE along
with Direct-X 5 or higher, you WILL need to download the updated drivers
for this gamepad to work properly!

8 Digital
The
ProPad 8 sounds like it's nothing new, but it is! It is a hyped up
version of the ProPad 6, but the 8 comes in USB form for more quick and
respinsive control. This frees up your serial port, and if ya know
what you''re doing, you can run the ProPad 8 from a USB slot on your computer,
and the ProPad 6 from the serial port - play all of your fave ROMS 2 player
now! The ProPad 8 has the same features as 6, but as mentioned, it's
USB driven now. Comes with install disk as well, and is as easy to
setup as ProPad6. Dont forget to grab the updated drivers for the
ProPad 8 here, as the new drivers correct some unfortunate setup and uninstall
problems found recently with the install-disk.

Hammerhead
3Dfx
The
Hammerhead is one mean mother! Unfortunately, due to strange circumstances,
this gamepad gets a DAMN low rating. The pad comes with a digital
joypad as usual AND 2 analog sticks. I cannot, for the life of me,
get this joystick to work with ANY emulator! ven updating it's drivers,
didnt help. I have no clue, and have put word in to many emulator
authors to see what they say about this. Otherwise, if the Hammerhead
would even WORK with roms, it'd be THE CHOICE for a gamepad! It comes
with the install CD which has many goodies on it, and it plays PC games
with ease, just not roms (pout). A little bit advanced, this pad
is, i admit - but none the less, it's a beauty. Sturdy construction,
even RUMBLE features are built right in, with powerful motors that shake
the gamepad in most PC games. Dont forget to grab the updated drivers
for this bad boy, as it MAY be able to be used with playing with
roms one day, as the new drivers correct some unfortunate setup and uninstall
problems found recently with the install-cd. Last boast on this one,
it sports a cool 3Dfx logo on the gamepad (woo!) and 3Dfx endorses it totally!
Pretty awesome design, too, and packed with buttons plus light-weight!
Man i just wish it would work with roms :-(
